COVID-19: Pakistan reports 624 new infections, 12 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 301,288 on Wednesday after another 672 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 316,351 after 624 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 138,891 cases were reported in Sindh, 100,148 in Punjab, 38,141 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,439 in Balochistan, 16,936 in Islamabad, 3,884 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 2,912 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,535 with 12 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, a foreign news agency quoting the researcher, reported that a Chinese experimental coronavirus vaccine being developed by the Institute of Medical Biology under the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences was shown to be safe in an early stage clinical trial.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 35.6 million and death toll tops 1.04 million.
