According to reports, the train hit a rickshaw carrying labourers at a railway crossing near Baseerpur station.

The eyewitnesses told that no railway watchman was posted at the railway crossing and while the rickshaw was crossing the railway track, it came under the wheels of the fast approaching Farid Express.

The people transferred the injured and dead bodies to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

In 39 days of the current year, around 21 persons including nine children have been killed in accidents at unmanned railway crossings.

However, Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq has ordered an inquiry into the accident.
