Maryam Nawaz slams CJ's decision giving Imran relief

Lahore (Web Desk): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president and chief organiser Maryam Nawaz on Thursday strongly criticised Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial over the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan.

In a tweet, the PML-N leader said the CJP was “very happy to release a criminal” who embezzled Rs 60 billion from the national treasury.

Referring to the PTI chief, the PML-N leader accused the CJP of being responsible for the attacks on crucial and sensitive institutions in the country, arguing that the top judge had become a shield for this miscreant and was adding further fuel to the fire in the country.

Maryam Nawaz said that the chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) should resign from his position and join the PTI like his mother-in-law.

Maryam’s comments come hours after the Supreme Court (SC) declared former premier Imran Khan’s arrest as illegal, and ordered his immediate release in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.

The PTI chief had challenged his arrest in the apex court after the Islamabad High Court had earlier declared it legal.

Imran Khan was arrested on May 9 by the paramilitary Rangers force on orders from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from the Islamabad High Court (IHC), over allegations of having looted Rs50 billion along with a property tycoon from the national treasury and getting the Al-Qadir University Trust registered on 450-kanal of land.
