Masjid-e-Nabawi incident: Police barred from registering cases against PTI leaders

Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday barred the police from registering more cases against the PTI leaders in Masjid-e-Nabawi (PBUH) incident.

During today’s hearing, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah stopped Interior Minister and other authorities from registering cases against the PTI leadership till further orders.

The IHC CJ said the court respects religious sentiments but the state has a duty to perform, adding that his court had received a similar plea, but the judges had not admitted it.

Earlier, Faisalabad police had booked at least 150 people, including former prime minister Imran Khan, for their alleged involvement in harassing and stopping a government delegation from performing their rituals at Masjid-e-Nabawi (PBUH).

The case has been registered against the suspects at the Madina Town Police Station in Faisalabad on the complaint of a citizen named Muhammad Naeem.
