CJP Bandial pledges SC's commitment to fully uphold Constitution of Pakistan

Islamabad (Web Desk): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial has said that the Supreme Court (SC) is committed to defend the Constitution of Pakistan in its entirety.

He was addressing a full court reference in Islamabad on the eve of the beginning of the new judicial year.

The CJP said that during the period from February 2 to September 9 this year, the apex court has decided 14,943 cases, minimising the pending cases from 54,134 to 50,265.

The CJP further said that dispensation of swift and economic justice is priority of the SC and efforts are being made for alternative dispute resolution, which will reduce the pendency of cases in all tiers of courts by around 40 percent in next three years.
