World Cup 2023: India restrict Pakistan to 19I

Ahmadabad (Web Desk): India restricted arch-rivals Pakistan to 191 runs in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's Cricket World Cup match being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in India's Ahmadabad today (Saturday).

Earlier, India won the toss, decided to field and bowled out the Green Shirts for 191 runs in 42.5 overs.

Pakistan Skipper Babar Azam scored his maiden ODI half-century against India, before being dismissed by Mohammed Siraj, while Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq were sent back to the pavilion for 20 and 36, respectively.

Later, Saud Shakeel was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav for a meager 6 runs, while Iftikhar Ahmed was also removed by the same spinner.

Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed for 49, whereas Shadab Khan was then removed by Jasprit Bumrah after he scored two runs. Pandya then dismissed Mohammad Nawaz for 6.

Ravindra Jadeja took the final wicket of the Pakistan innings, removing Haris Rauf for 2.

Overall, Bumrah, Siraj, Jadeja, Pandya and Yadav picked up two wickets each.

The game was being expected as one of the biggest clashes in the mega cricket tournament with the Babar Azam-led Green Shirts and Rohit Sharma's Men In Blue aiming to claim victory but the Pakistani batters could not score a satisfactory margin of runs.

India have a perfect 7-0 record against Pakistan in the 50-overs World Cup and are also the top-ranked ODI team, who have won both their games in the tournament so far.

On the other hand, Pakistan also have won two matches at the World Cup after seeing off the Netherlands and Sri Lanka.
