US looks forward to working with interim PM Kakar, his team: State Dept

Washington (Web Desk): The United States (US) has said that it looks forward to working with the caretaker premier Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar as Pakistan prepares to hold general elections.

State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel, while responding to a question at his daily press briefing, said that the US reaffirmed its support Pakistan in areas of mutual interest, including the conduct of free and fair elections.

He said that the US looks forward to working with the interim prime minister and his team.

"We, of course, will continue to partner with Pakistan on areas of mutual interest, including our interest in Pakistan’s economic stability, prosperity, and security, and the conduct of free and fair elections and the respect for democracy and the rule of law," Patel said.

On Monday, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar took oath as the caretaker premier and the interim government led by him would oversee parliamentary elections during Pakistan's most challenging period in the economic field.
