Remembering the martyrs of APS tragedy

Peshawar (Agencies): Today (Sunday) marks the fourth anniversary of the devastating terrorist attack on Army Public School Peshawar.

A candlelight vigil was held here on Saturday evening on the eve of the fourth anniversary of the Dec 2014 Army Public School attack, which killed 144 students and staff members.

Besides parents and relatives of the martyred students, noted civil society activists Sana Ijaz, Dr Said Alam Mehsud and Fazl Khan also attended the event at the Shuhada APS memorial put up on the premises of the archives library.

The parents displayed pictures of the martyred students and lit candles.

Main functions to mark the fourth anniversary of the massacre held at the APS and archives library today.

On December 16, 2014, terrorists stormed the army-run school and martyred around 150 people, including more than 130 young students.

The incident shook the country and resulted in the formation of a National Action Plan to stem extremism and terrorism in the country, as well as the creation of military courts to try ‘hardcore’ terrorists.

Prime Minister Imran Khan paid tribute to the martyrs of the terrorist attack on Army Public School Peshawar.

In his message on the occasion, Prime Minister Imran said the tragic incident unified and solidified the entire nation against an enemy which is a blot on humanity and the worst example of barbarism.

He said the sacrifices of the young martyrs of the devastating terrorist attack would never be forgotten.
