COVID-19: Pakistan reports 302 new cases, 6 deaths in last 24 hours 

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,290,215 on Thursday after 302 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 478,564 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 444,032 in Punjab, 180,825 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 33,540 in Balochistan, 108,198 in Islamabad, 10,428 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 34,627 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 42,895 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 0.70%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 28,849 with 6 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,251,914 after another 136 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has transported fresh consignments of 15 million doses of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines by five special flights from the Capital International Airport Beijing to Islamabad.

The national flag carrier launched special flights PAK-6852, PAK-6853, PK-6856, PK-6857 and PK-6858 respectively and airlifted fresh consignments of Sinovac vaccine from December 10 to December 15, PIA Country Manager Qadir Bux Sangi said on Wednesday.

He added that a PIA special flight PK-6858 carrying 3 million doses of Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines left the Chinese capital for Islamabad.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 272.516 million and death toll tops 5,346,371.
