Supreme Court allows Fawad Chaudhry to contest election

Islamabad: (Staff report) The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) has allowed Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) spokesperson Fawad Chauhdary to contest election from NA-67, Jhelum.

A two-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Azmat Saeed Tuesday heard the petition filed against acceptance of the nomination papers of Fawad Chaudhry.

The court dismissed the petition filed by the candidate of justice and Democratic Party Syed Fakhar Haider and allowed Fawad Chauhdary to contest the election.

Justice Azmat Saeed inquired from the petitioner that you had not filed any objection at the time of submitting the nomination papers.

The decision of rejection of appeal should be challenged rather than filing new petition court added. Petition cannot be filed against one order on the same forum. It cannot happen that you are bowled out while playing cricket and then demand second turn.

It is worth mentioning that Fawad Chauhdary is contesting election from NA-67 Jhelum.

Earlier, petitions filed for the disqualification of Fawad Chaudhry had also been rejected by Election Tribunal and Lahore High Court (LHC).
