COVID-19: Pakistan reports 270 new cases, 10 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,280,092 on Tuesday after 216 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 473,293 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 442,068 in Punjab, 179,276 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 33,422 in Balochistan, 107,383 in Islamabad, 10,403 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 34,517 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 32,006 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 0.84%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 28,628 with 10 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,229,347 after another 499 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the United States (US) public health agency on Tuesday lowered its Covid-19 travel advisory for Pakistan in the wake of improved coronavirus situation in the country, as almost all indicators of the pandemic prevalence showed a declining trend this month.

The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) lowered its Covid-19 travel advisory to “Level One: Low” for Pakistan, India, Japan, Liberia, Gambia and Mozambique.

Last month, Pakistan was placed in “Level Two”.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 255.197 million and death toll tops 5,123,575.
