Asif Zardari, Maulana Fazlur Rehman discuss joint strategy against government

Islamabad (Web Desk): Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Friday discussed a joint strategy against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

According to sources, during the meeting, the two leaders discussed matters of national interest, including the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) bailout package.

The sources added that the two leaders also discussed the formation of an alliance of the opposition parties against the government. They also discussed a protest march towards Islamabad after Eid-ul-Fitr.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has invited Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice-president Maryam Nawaz and other opposition leaders to an Iftar dinner in Islamabad on Sunday.

The sources said that Maryam Nawaz accepted Bilawal’s invitation and will attend the event along with a delegation of party leaders.
