PM Imran lauds overseas Pakistanis for sending record $24.2b remittances

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday appreciated overseas Pakistanis for sending record 24.2 billion dollars remittances during the first 10 months of current Fiscal Year (FY).

In a tweet, the premier said he always believed that overseas Pakistanis to be the country's greatest asset.

He said that the remittances during the month of April rose to an all-time high of 2.8 billion dollars.

PM Imran added that the overseas Pakistanis had broken the record of entire FY20 by remitting $24.2 billion in first 10 months of FY21.

The primer minister again thanked overseas Pakistanis for their faith in ‘Naya Pakistan’.

Meanwhile, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) also shared the similar details of remittances by the overseas Pakistan.

In a statement the central bank said that cumulatively, during the July-April FY21 workers’ remittances rose to an unprecedented level of $24.2bn, up by 29pc, compared to the same period last year.

These have also surpassed the full FY20 level by over $1bn, creating a new record, the statement added.
