No-confidence motion: NA session summoned on March 25

Islamabad: Speaker Asad Qaiser has convened a crucial session of the National Assembly on March 25 (Friday) to deliberate on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to a notification issued by the NA secretariat, the session of the lower house will be held at Parliament House on Friday at 11am.

Earlier, the leaders of the joint opposition parties warned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led federal government that if the no-confidence motion against PM Imran is not tabled on Monday, then they will stage a sit-in inside the NA.

Addressing a joint press conference alongside Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) president and Jamiat Uema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif and Balochistan National Party -Mengal (BNP-M) chief Akhtar Mengal, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said if NA Speaker Asad Qaiser adopts "undemocratic" practices, the Opposition would show resistance.

“We want Monday's session to start with no-confidence motion but if it is not summoned by Monday then we will stage a sit-in the house. We will then see how you will be able to organise the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting,” the PPP chief said.

The OIC session of foreign ministers is set to take place in Islamabad from March 22 to 23.
