Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 897,468 on Saturday after 4,007 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
Overall 306,707 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 333,057 in Punjab, 129,013 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 24,413 in Balochistan, 80,156 in Islamabad, 5,471 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 18,651 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
As per the National Command and Operation (NCOC) data. 62,238 tests were conducted while positivity ratio remained 6.43%.
According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 20,177 with 88 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 813,855 after another 3,172 virus recoveries were reported.
Meanwhile, the NCOC announced that all vaccinations for individuals aged between 30-40 years has begun today.
In a message on Twitter, the NCOS wrote, “One can register themselves by sending their CNIC to 1166. Once an SMS is received, one can visit the mentioned Vaccination center in the SMS, on given date (or afterward), and get their vaccination.”
Moreover, Canada has extended its ban on passenger flights from Pakistan and India by 30 days to June 21 as part of a campaign to fight Covid-19.
Canadian Transport Minister Omar Alghabra announced this on Friday.
It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 165.158 million and death toll tops 3.425 million.
