Pakistan's COVID-19 death toll crosses 14,000

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): Pakistan's COVID-19 death toll crossed the 14,000 mark on Thursday, according to the data shared by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 640,988 after 3,946 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 263,815 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 205,314 in Punjab, 81,787 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 19,395 in Balochistan, 53,684 in Islamabad, 4,977 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 12,016 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 14,028 with 63 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 588,975 after another 2,747 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday announced that all 35 members of the Pakistan squad named for South Africa tested negative for coronavirus.

"All 35 members of the Africa-bound side, including 22 players and 13 officials, have tested negative and, as such, the side will depart for Johannesburg, South Africa, on a chartered flight on Friday morning," said the PCB in a statement.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 123.902,000 million and death toll tops 2.727, 000 million.
