Senate polls: Tribunals to dispose of appeals regarding nomination papers today

Islamabad (Web Desk): Appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers for senate elections will be disposed of by the tribunals today (Monday).

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the revised lists of the candidates will be issued on March 26 while the candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by March 27.

Polling on 48 vacant seats of the upper house will be held on April 2.

As per the schedule, in the federal capital, members of the National Assembly will elect members of the Senate against one general seat and one seat for technocrats including Ulema.

Meanwhile, members of the four provincial assemblies will elect Senators for 7 general seats, 2 women seats, and 2 seats for technocrats including Ulema from each province, as well as one seat for non-Muslims from both Punjab and Sindh provinces.

These seats became vacant after expiration of the term of the incumbent members of the upper house of Parliament on March 11.
