Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 311,440 on Tuesday after another 365 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 329,375 after 773 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.
Overall, 144,114 cases were reported in Sindh, 103,082 in Punjab, 39,119 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,839 in Balochistan, 19,181 in Islamabad, 4,191 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 3,849 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,745 with 6 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Faisal Sultan on Tuesday said that the imposition of more restrictions was becoming "unavoidable" due to growing number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in the country.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, he said that a few weeks ago, 400-500 cases were being reported across the country on a daily basis. The tally, he said, had shot up to 700-750 cases of the infection per day.
"The Coronavirus death rate has increased in the country," Dr Faisal said, adding that that the positivity ratio had surged to 2.5-2.75%.
The SAPM said that the masses were not adhering to coronavirus precautions as they should, given the pandemic was still far from over.
It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 43.3 million and death toll tops 1.157,000 million.
