NAB arrests over 500 corrupt people during 2018: Javed Iqbal

Islamabad (Staff Report): National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has said that the anti corruption watchdog during the last year apprehended at least 503 corrupt people.

In a statement issued by the NAB, the chairman said during 2018 the anti graft body received about 44315 complaints, authorized 1713 complaint verifications, 877 inquiries and 227 investigations and recovered two thousand five hundred and eight million rupees from corrupt elements.

He said Pakistan's corruption perception index has been decreased from 175 position to 116 due to effective steps against corruption.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Imran Khan launched ‘Pakistan Citizen Portal’ to address complaints of the masses and get their feedback.

The portal, which will be directly operated from PM’s office, is a simple tool that allows citizens to register themselves through an app and send their complaints to the concerned government departments.

The system would be a replication of the portal successfully running in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
