Peshawar (Web Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Babar Saleem Swati and Surayya Bibi of Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) took oath as new Speaker and Deputy Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly in Peshawar on Thursday.
Outgoing KP speaker, Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani administered the oath to newly elected speaker of provincial assembly, while the new KP Speaker Babar Saleem Swati administered oath to the newly elected Deputy Speaker.
During the election at provincial assembly, Babar Swati secured 89 votes while his opponent Ihsan Ullah Mian Khel obtained 17 votes.
Earlier, in his last address as speaker, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani thanked the assembly staff and members for their cooperation during his tenure.
