World Cup 2019: Afghanistan set 228-run target for Pakistan

Leeds (Agencies): Afghanistan set Pakistan a target of 228 runs for the loss of nine wicket in 50 overs in the World Cup 2019 match at Headingley, Leeds on Saturday.

Afghan captain Gulbadin Naib won the toss and decided to bat first against Pakistan.

Afghanistan have made one change to the side with Hamid Hassan coming back in the side, in place of Dawlat Zadran, while Pakistan is fielding an unchanged side.

The match started at 2: 30pm, Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

With seven points from 7 matches, Pakistan needs to win today’s match in order to stay for the semi-final spot in the World Cup.

On the other hand, Afghanistan gave the tough time to Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh.

Never before both the teams have met in any World Cup as it is the first time that war-torn Afghanistan has qualified for the mega event.

Afghanistan gave a big scare to Pakistan by beating them in a warm-up match of the World Cup. The team has so far played seven match of the World Cup and lost all.

On Wednesday, Pakistan brushed aside New Zealand in all-important encounter of ICC World Cup 2019 in Birmingham by six wickets.
