FM Qureshi, British envoy discuss bilateral relations in diverse sectors

Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): British High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew called on Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Islamabad on Monday and discussed a wide range of bilateral and regional issues of mutual interests.

The two sides expressed satisfaction on the current state of bilateral relations.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi emphasized the need to promote trade and economic linkages and create people to people contacts with Britain.

The FM also appreciated the role being played by the Department for International Development (DFID) in providing assistance in health and education sectors.

On this occasion, British High Commissioner Thomas Drew reiterated desire of his country to further enhance cooperation with Pakistan in all areas of common interest including peace and security, trade and investment and accountability.

Matters relating to cooperation in curbing organized crimes and the asset recovery were also discussed in the meeting.
