World Cup 2023: Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets

Kolkata (Web Desk): Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the 31st match of ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday.

The Green Shirts returned to overhaul the target set by the Bengal Tigers, reaching 205 for 3 in 32.3 Overs for their third win of the tournament.

Abdullah Shafique (68) and Fakhar Zaman (81) slammed fifties and once they were dismissed.
Mohammad Rizwan (26) and Iftikar Ahmed (17) knocked off the remaining runs.

Earlier, Bangladesh won toss, decided to bat first against Pakistan and scored 204 runs in 45.1 overs losing all wickets.

The Bangladeshi openers failed to give a good start as Shaheen Shah Afridi got Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto in his first two overs. Mushfiqur Rahim soon followed them when Haris Rauf got him in the sixth over.

However, the partnership between Litton Das, who scored 45 runs and Mahmudullah, who added 56 runs, helped Bangladesh recover from the early losses.

After Das fell to Iftikhar Ahmed, Skipper Shakib Al Hasan came in the middle and scored 43 off 64 balls before Rauf took his wicket.

For Pakistan, Afridi and Waseem Jr. took 3 wickets each while Rauf got two batters out.

Usama Mir and Iftikhar Ahmed took one wicket each.

Pakistan made three changes in what was a must-win match in order to stay in the World Cup.

Fakhar Zaman, Salman Agha and Usama Mir were in for Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan.

Babgladesh made one change as they replaced Hasan replaced by Tawhid Hridoy.
