Donkey for tourist…

Jerusalem (Web Desk): Three Palestinian communities along with the Palestinian Animal League PAL’s team and devoted volunteers have been working to improve the welfare of working horse and donkeys.

These companies use a large number of horses and donkeys are used as working animals; some in tourism, some in farming and others for recreation (riding). PAL’s work in this area have been trying to sought the major welfare challenges faced by the animals.

The PAL teams have begun to build productive working relationships with the horse and donkey owners and changes for the better have already been seen.

Beginning in September 2015, the project had to be put on hold for over a month at the end of the year due to the deteriorated condition in the West Bank making travel of PAL team dangerous from place to place. Once it was safe to do so, the team was back in the communities, working hard.

In the project’s first six months, PAL’s vet team worked for the welfare of the animals.they also supported the community action plans which were to led by the animal owners themselves. The success of the project lies in the effective cooperation of local communities and the team.
