PTI postpones intra-party elections

The intra-party polls of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), scheduled for February 5 (Monday), have been postponed until after February 8, party chief Barrister Gohar Khan stated on Friday.

According to Gohar the decision was announced on the directives of the PTI founder Imran Khan.

"Intra-party elections can divert the attention of candidates and voters from the general elections," the PTI chief said.

The statement added that the party will release a revised schedule after the conclusion of the general elections.

On Thursday, the PTI announced that it will hold intra-party polls on February 5.

The party’s spokesperson Raoof Hasan had been appointed as the federal election commissioner.

According to a notification issued by the PTI election commission office, the polls will be held to elect the chairman of the PTI and central and provincial organisations.
