COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,123 new infections, 12 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 315,016 on Monday after another 461 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 335,093 after 1,123 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 146,331 cases were reported in Sindh, 104,554 in Punjab, 39,649 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,954 in Balochistan, 20,089 in Islamabad, 4,279 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 4,237 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,835 with 12 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), in order to prevent the second wave of Covid-19 outbreak in the country, has directed its officials to strictly implement the Standard Operating Proce­dures (SOPs) formulated for passengers and operators of charter and private flights.

This authority has decided that pilots will make an announcement twice or thrice during the flight in both English and Urdu about the issues involved.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 45.9 million and death toll tops 1.19 million.
