Pakistan's tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases jumps to 89,249

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan on Friday rose to 89,249 after 4,896 new infections were reported over the past 24 hours.

Overall, 33,144 cases were reported in Punjab, 33,536 in Sindh, 11,890 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 5,582 in Balochistan, 852 in Gilgit Baltistan, 3,946 in Islamabad, and 299 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 1,838 with 68 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours while at least 31,198 patients have fully recovered.

The number of coronavirus cases has continued to soar despite the country remained under a lockdown nearly one and a half month.

Meanwhile, National Command and Operation Center (NCOS) has launched resource management system to ensure optimum utilization of healthcare facilities against Covid-19.

As per details, 15459 hospitals across the country have been linked under this system. This will enable the provinces to review the facilities available in the hospitals falling under their precincts.

Moreover, Pak Nighban app has also been launched which will provide information about the availability of ventilators in hospitals.

Around 1110 hospitals across the country have been linked with this app to help save precious lives in emergency situation.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 6.52 million and death toll tops 385,000.
