Peace in Karachi vital for country-wide stability: Army chief

Rawalpindi (Staff Report): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Sunday visited Corps Headquarters in Karachi.

According to a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Bajwa was briefed on the security situation in Karachi and progress on Operation Raddul Fasaad.

The Army chief was also informed of the support extended by the Rangers to the census operations in Sindh, the statement read and added that Bajwa appreciated the army and Rangers for their contributions towards successful execution of their assignments, and asserted that peace in Karachi is vital for country-wide stability.

Gen Bajwa also appreciated the "efforts of intelligence agencies and security forces in winning back dissident/sub-nationalist elements into the national mainstream through positive engagement", ISPR said.

Earlier, Gen Bajwa was received by Commander Karachi Corps Lieutenant General Shahid Baig Mirza, while Director General Rangers Sindh was also present.
