COVID-19: Pakistan reports 3,316 new cases, 98 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,186,234 on Tuesday after 3,316 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 439,119 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 405,005 in Punjab, 165,512 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 32,411 in Balochistan, 101,249 in Islamabad 10,065 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 32,873 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 52,314 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 6.33%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 26,330 with 98 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,067,589 after another 3,270 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government has banned entry of unvaccinated students over 17 years of age in educational institutions to increase vaccination rate in the province.

Earlier on September 1, the NCOC announced to begin coronavirus vaccination of people aged 17 years.

Sindh is the worst hit province in the country in terms of cases as the provincial government struggles to control the stubborn forth wave of the virus.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 222.050 million and death toll tops 4,590,280.
