Bilawal reiterates demand for polls within 90 days

Karachi: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday reiterated his demand that the upcoming general election should be held within the 90-day constitutional timeframe.

Talking to the media, Bilawal distanced his party from his father Asif Ali Zardari’s statement regarding general elections.

“I am bound to follow President Zardari on our family matters but as far as political matters, Constitution and party policy are concerned, I’m bound to follow PPP’s central executive committee’s decisions,” said Bilawal and added, “People are saying that they are drowning in the tsunami of inflation ... the people demand that their problems should be solved. Their problems can only be solved by the PPP.”

“Our fight is against poverty, unemployment, and inflation. With its performance, the PPP has always proven that it does the people-friendly politics and governance,” he continued.

Earlier the day, former president Zardari asserted the ECP’s decision to hold polls after the delimitation of constituencies is completed.

The former president also expressed unwavering confidence in Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Rana and the commission’s members.
