Shah Mahmood Qureshi arrested from Islamabad 

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi was arrested from the federal capital in the wee hours of Thursday.

The PTI leader was taken into custody after the police raided Gilgit-Baltidstan House in Islamabad under Section 3 of Maintenance of Public order (3MPO).

On Wednesday night, the police apprehended PTI senior leader Fawad Chaudhry was arrested from outside the Supreme Court (SC).

The PTI leader had been inside the SC since 11am in a bid to evade arrest.

Fawad was taken into custody after he came out of the premises of the top court.

Chaudhry was arrested under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Ordinance (MPO) and was shifted to the Secretariat Police Station.

Earlier on Wednesday, Secretary General Asad Umar from the premises of Islamabad High Court (IHC)

The law enforcers picked up the former federal minister from outside the IHC Bar Room where he and other PTI leaders were preparing a plea to be filed file in the IHC seeking a meeting with party chief Imran Khan.

Asad Umar was booked in two cases registered against him and other PTI leaders following the protests that ensued after Imran Khan's arrest.

In a statement spokesperson of Islamabad Police said that several PTI leaders, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, Falak Naz Chitrali, Mussarat Jamshed Cheema, and Maleeka Bukhari, were held in cases of deadly clashes and arsons in several cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP.).

"All arrests were carried out after completing the legal requirements," the spokesperson said, warning that more arrests are expected.

On Tuesday, PTI chairman and former premier Imran Khan was arrested in the Al-Qadir Trust case from the premises of the IHC, where he was present for two hearings.

Following Khans' arrest, PTI workers staged violent protests in several cities. Police arrested hundreds of party workers and several leaders, including PTI Sindh leader Ali Zaidi, Asad Umar former Punjab governor Omar Sarfaraz Cheema.
