Israeli ground offensive on Rafah will “blow up” captive talks: Hamas

Gaza: Any Israeli ground offensive on Rafah will “blow up” the captive exchange negotiations, Al-Aqsa television channel quoted a senior Hamas leader as saying on Sunday.

The Israeli army says fighter jets hit the sites in Marwahin, which included a rocket-launching post and other infrastructure.

Earlier, strikes were carried out against Ramyeh and Yaroun in southern Lebanon as well.

The army says it also opened fire at a suspect in Kfarkela, another village in the south.

The Israel war has devastated the economies of both the besieged Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, the International Monetary Fund’s chief has said, adding that only “durable peace” would improve the outlook.

“The Palestinian economy’s dire outlook is worsening as the conflict persists,” managing director Kristalina Georgieva told the World Governments Summit in Dubai.

Israeli forces have deported a Palestinian woman to the Gaza Strip, less than two weeks after arresting her from a military checkpoint in the occupied West Bank.

Siqal Yousef Qaddoum, 51, is a journalist with Palestine TV. Although she was born in Gaza, she had lived for many years in the town of al-Shuyoukh, northeast of Hebron in the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said that Qaddoum was arrested on February 1 at a checkpoint near Ramallah, and was transferred to Hasharon Prison, then to Damon Prison. She was deported via the southern Karem Abu Salem crossing.
