PDM chief Fazlur Rehman announces long march towards Islamabad

Lahore (Staff Report/Agencies): The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced to hold long march towards Islamabad in last week of January or first week of Februry.

Addressing the PDM rally at Lahore’s Minar-i-Pakistan on Sunday, the Jamiat Ulema Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) chief announced the second phase of its campaign against the PTI-led government, saying the PDM will hold long march towards Islamabad in last week of January or first week of Februry 2021.

In his address, PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari recalled that his grandfather Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had founded the party in Punjab. He said the said the PDM stands by the people of Lahore.

The PPP chairman said that all the Opposition parties have put aside their political differences and are standing together on the platform of PDM. He said this was done “so we can restore your rightfully chosen leaders”.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz thanked Lahore's residents for attending the public meeting in overwhelming numbers.

Referring to a gathering organised by the PTI at Minar-i-Pakistan in 2011, the PML-N vice president alleged that the public meeting had been arranged by then ISI chief Shuja Pasha.

Earlier a lunch was hosted by the PML-N at party leader Ayaz Sadiq’s residence in the city.

The lunch was attended by Bilawal and other opposition bigwigs, including Rehman, Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) President Sardar Akhtar Mengal and Awami National Party (ANP) central general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain.
The 11 opposition parties had held numbers of rallies in various cities against the incumbent government.
