COVID-19: Pakistan reports 135 deaths, 4,681 new cases in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 734,423 on Wednesday after 4,681 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 269,840 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 255,571 in Punjab, 101,045 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 20,499 in Balochistan, 67,491 in Islamabad 5,140 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 14,837 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 15,754 with 135 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 641,912 after another 3,645 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Wednesday issued a new set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to mitigate the adverse effects of the third wave of coronavirus.

A special meeting of NCOC was chaired for this by Asad Umar on Tuesday.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 136.291 million and death toll tops 2.941 million.
