PM Imran Khan arrives in Bahrain on maiden visit

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Bahrain on Monday on his maiden visit to the Gulf country since assuming his office.

Crown Prince of Bahrain Salman Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa received the prime minister with a red carpet welcome at Manama airport of Bahrain.

On the invitation of King of Bahrain Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, Prime Minister Imran Khan is visiting the Kingdom to attend the National Day of Bahrain as Guest of Honor.

After his arrival, Prime Minister Imran Khan held official meeting with Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Matters pertaining to bilateral relations and regional situation came under discussion during the meeting.

As per a statement by Foreign Office, during the visit, the prime minister will have a one-on-one meeting with King Khalifa.

The meeting between the leaders would cover the entire gamut of bilateral relations and matters pertaining to regional and international issues, the statement added.

Bahrain's highest civil award will be conferred upon the prime minister.

Special Assistant Syed Zulfiqar Bukhari and senior officials are accompanying the prime minister.

Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to Bahrain will enable the two sides to explore ways and means to further deepen bilateral trade and investment ties.

"The visit is of special significance and will impart a strong impetus to both sides' endeavors to forge a closer and multifaceted bilateral relationship", the statement said.
