IHC approves Sheikh Rashid's post-arrest bail

Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday approved Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed's post-arrest bail in a case registered against him for levelling allegations against former president Asif Ali Zardari.

Last week, Rashid approached the IHC for post-arrest bail in the case.

In the plea, the AML chief argued that cases are being registered against him as he “is the target of a political vendetta”.

Earlier, a district and sessions court in Islamabad rejected post-arrest bail plea of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in the case.

Islamabad police had arrested Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in the early hours of Thursday on a police complaint filed by Raja Inayatur Rehman, the vice president of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Rawalpindi Division, wherein he said that the AML chief, in an interview with ARY’s Waseem Badami on Jan 27, alleged that Zardari recruited terrorists to plan Imran’s murder.
