Imran Khan okays names of PTI candidates for Senate election

Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday announced the final list of candidates for the Senate election scheduled for April 2.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is set to hold the upper house polls for 48 seats that fell vacant upon the expiration of the 6-year term of the incumbent senators last week.

As per the electoral body’s schedule, today (March 16) is the last date for the submission of nomination papers.

However, PTI later released the list of candidates “approved” by Khan, via the party’s official account on X, formerly Twitter.

The PTI has finalised, Murad Saeed (Covering: Azhar Mashwani), Faisal Javed Khan, Mirza Afridi, Irfan Saleem, ⁠Khurram Zeeshan for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (General Seats), while, for technocrat seats Azam Swati and Irshad Hussain.

The party picked Ayesha Bano, Rubina Naz for women seats.

Hamid Khan and Zulfi Bukhari (covering: Omer Sarfraz Cheema & Col Ijaz Minhas) for Punjab general seats.

The RTI also nominated Dr Yasmeen Rashid for technocrats and Sanam Javed for women seat Punjab.
