Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): President Arif Alvi on Monday conferred Pakistan's highest civil award — Nishan-e-Pakistan — on Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.
Earlier the day, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Imran Khan have arrived at the President House.
PM and Crown Prince went from the PM House to the President House on a horse carriage.
A delegation of lawmakers led by Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani called upon Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman at the PM House.
According to a press release issued by Senate Secretariat, Sanjrani hailed the crown prince's plan to make a multi-billion-dollar investment in Pakistan, and termed it "a reflection of the international community's faith in Pakistan".
The Saudi crown prince arrived in Islamabad on Sunday on a two-day visit. He was greeted by PM Imran and Army chief General Qamar Bajwa and given a red-carpet welcome with a 21-gun salute.
MBS will be conferred with the country's highest civil award Nishan-e-Pakistan today (Monday). The Saudi leader will also be participating at an event slated to take place at the President House, where he will be honoured with the Nishan-e-Imtiaz.
Addressing a reception dinner at Prime Minister House hours after arriving in Pakistan, the crown prince — known as MBS for short —said Pakistan is a "dear country" to all Saudis and that the two countries "have walked together in tough and good times".
He expressed optimism about the economic future of Pakistan, saying his country had been waiting for a leadership like that of PM Khan to partner with Islamabad in various areas.
Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed a raft of investment deals Sunday worth up to $20 billion.
