Pakistan Army stands with flood-affected population in this testing time: COAS

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan Army stands with flood-affected population in this difficult testing time and shall undertake the assistance effort as a national obligation, the military's media wing said on Saturday.

According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations, the army chief made the remarks when he called Commander Balochistan Corps Lieutenant General Asif Ghafoor to get an update on flood situation.

"The COAS directed the commander to undertake all measures to assist government of Balochistan for rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts on emergency basis in coordination with civil administration," the ISPR said.

COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that the unprecedented rains have caused devastation to human life and communication infrastructure especially in Balochistan.

He said Army resources will be utilised to help the affected population and restore critical communication infrastructure as immediate temporary measure.
