PM Imran announces 3G/4G internet services for Waziristan

Wana (Web Desk): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday announced that 3G and 4G internet services will become operational in Waziristan from today.

Addressing a ceremony in connection with distribution of cheques amongst the tribal people under Kamyab Jawan Program in Wana, the premier assured to uplift the poor segments of the society and backward areas including the tribal districts.

PM Imran said the special emphasis will be given to the education sector and provision of livelihoods to the people of tribal districts.

“Apart from giving scholarship to the youth, schools, colleges, universities and technical institutes will be established in the tribal districts,” the PM said.

The prime minister said that the loans under the Kamyab Jawan Program are just the beginning and its scope will be further expanded.

He added that more funds will be poured into the program from next year so that more loans could be given to the people.

“Assistance will also be provided to the tribal people under the Ehsaas program,” the premier said, adding that the cattle will also be provided to the women of these areas.

Imran Khan said that road infrastructure will also be built so that the farmers could easily take their produce to the markets.

Referring to the potential of the area in the olive oil production, the premier that said massive plantation will be started in the tribal areas from next month, he said adding that this project will enhance the income level of the people and they will not require finding jobs in other cities.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that each family in the tribal districts will be provided with health insurance card under which they will be able to get medical treatment worth up to Rs 700,000 per annum per year.

PM Imran further said that an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) system has been formed where elders would sit and resolve tribal disputes.

“We realise the importance of elders so we have formed the ADR where they would sit and resolve the issues. ADR is just another name of a ‘Jirga’,” Imran Khan said.

During the visit, the prime minister was accompanied by the chief minister Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mahmood Khan, Governor Shah Farman,Special assistants to the Prime Minister including Dr Sania Nishtar, Usman Dar, and Shahbaz Gill.
