Roads inundated as heavy rain lashes Lahore

Lahore (Staff Report): Roads inundated as heavy rain lashed the Punjab capital on Friday.

Several parts of the metropolis including the Airport, Cantonment, Askari 10 and Davis Road localities received a heavy downpour. Gulberg, Shadmaan, Canal Road also witnessed heavy rain.

The Meteorological Department forecast similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours. An official said that about 34mm rain was recorded at Qartaba Chowk, which was submerged with rainwater.

Rainwater was seen accumulated in various localities of the city including Johar Town, Ichhra, Muslim Town, Garden Town, Bahria Town, Mozang, Railway Road, Gwalmandi, Davis Road, Garhi Shahu, Canal Bank Road, Township and adjacent areas.

The Met Department said a weak monsoon current from Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal ware continuously penetrating the upper and central parts of the country and is likely to continue during next 24 hours.
