Balochistan govt unveils Rs750 billion budget for FY 2023-24

Quetta (Web Desk): Balochistan government on Monday presented budget for the fiscal year (FY) 2023-24 with a total outlay of Rs750 billion having a deficit of Rs49 billion.

Balochistan's Finance Minister Zamrak Khan Achakzai presented the budget in the Provincial Assembly in Quetta.

In the new fiscal year budget, Rs437 billion have been allocated for non-development expenditures while Rs229 billion have been allocated for developmental expenditures.

Zamrak Khan Achakzai said that the provincial government has announced 35% increase in salaries of government employees from grade 1 to 16, while 30% for the employees of grade 17 to 22.

The minister also announced a 17.5% increase in pension. The minister said minimum wage has been fixed at Rs32,000 for labourers.

He added that more than Rs65 billion have been allocated for the betterment of the health sector.

The provincial minister announced that the irrigation sector will be given over Rs21 billion in the next budget.
