9th Muharram observed across country with due solemnity, sanctity

Lahore (Staff Report/Agencies): The Pakistani nation observed 9th of Muharram on Thursday with due solemnity and sanctity to pay homage to the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and his companions in Karbala.

Ulema and Zakireen threw light on the bright and candid teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his great companions.

The ninth Muharram processions were taken out in different parts of the country.

In Islamabad, the main procession of 9th Muharram was taken out from Imambargah G-6/2 and it terminated at the same place after passing through the traditional route.

In Karachi, processions were taken out from various areas of the city which will join the main procession at Nishtar Park.

In Peshawar, main procession of 9th of Muharram was taken out from Imambargah Hussainia Hall, Saddar Road. After passing through its traditional routes, the procession terminated at its starting point in the evening.

Meanwhile, mobile phone service remained partially suspended in several cities across the country, including Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar.

Strict security measures have been taken for the processions and contingents of Rangers and Police have been deployed at Imam-Bargahs. Pillion riding has also been banned till 10th Muharram.

Pak-Afghan border at Chaman and Pak-Iran border at Taftan have been closed for two days. The phone service remained suspended on the routes of the 9th Muharram processions.
