COVID-19: Pakistan reports 270 new cases, 4 deaths in last 24 hours 

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,291,737 on Tuesday after 270 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 479,481cases were confirmed in Sindh, 444,267 in Punjab, 181,023 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 33,587 in Balochistan, 108,308 in Islamabad, 10,429 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 34,642 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 42,506 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 0.63%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 28,882 with 4 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,253,298 after another 297 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the NCOC agreed upon taking strict measures regarding obligatory vaccination regime and discussed the epidemic curve chart data, national vaccine strategy and disease prevalence across the country.

Moreover, the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) will provide $72.5 million to Pakistan for the procurement of Covid-19 vaccine to contain the spread of the pandemic, the institution has announced.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 275.826 million and death toll tops 5,377,648.
