Two coal miners killed in mine blast in Balochistan

Quetta (Staff Report): At least two colliers were killed in a gas explosion inside a coal mine in Dakki area of Balochistan on Monday.

Two other miners were trapped inside the mine in the aftermath of the explosion, which caused part of the mine to cave in.

Rescue efforts were under way to retrieve the colliers trapped in the mine. The authorities have sealed the coal mine and launched an investigation into the incident.

Earlier of this month, at least four labourers were suffocated to death while one other was injured when a coal mine in Balochistan’s Chamalang area overfilled with gas.

According to official sources, at least five labourers were extracting coal out of the mines in Chamalang when it filled with gas leading to an explosion. The explosion resulted in killing four of the labourers.

They said the deceased labourers all belonged to the same family, including two brothers.

The injured labourer has been shifted to a hospital.
