PM Imran, Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa discuss bilateral ties

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Imran Khan held one-on-one meeting with his Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa in Colombo on Tuesday.

Matters related to mutual interests and bilateral relations came under discussion.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo on a two-day official visit.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa received Prime Minister Imran Khan at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

PM Imran was given guard of honour by the contingent of Sri Lankan forces and a gun salute at a special welcome reception ceremony held at the airport.

The premier is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Advisor on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood and Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfiqar Bukhari, and senior officials, the Radio Pakistan reported.

During the visit, Prime Minister Imran Khan will hold meetings with Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa.

At the high-level talks, the two sides will discuss ways to promote bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, including trade, investment, health, education, agriculture and science and technology.

A number of agreements to enhance bilateral cooperation will be signed during the visit.

The prime minister will also participate in Joint Trade and Investment Conference.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka have strong friendly relations since 1948.

Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit will help further strengthen the bilateral relationship.
