COVID-19: Pakistan reports 315 new cases, 5 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,282,510 on Tuesday after 315 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 474,407 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 442,556 in Punjab, 179,644 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 33,453 in Balochistan, 107,506 in Islamabad, 10,408 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 34,536 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 35,332 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 0.89 %.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 28,668 with 5 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,238,980 after another 8,010 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, White House COVID-19 response coordinator Jeff Zients on Monday said that the United States (US) does not need to impose a lockdown or shut down its economy to curb the spread of coronavirus and will rely on other tools.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 258.514 million and death toll tops 5,177,407.
