IHC nullifies PEMRA’s order to impose one million fine on Neo News

Islamabad (Staff Report): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday declared the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority’s (PEMRA) order to impose Rs 1 million fine on Neo News HD null and void.

According to details, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard a petition filed by the Neo News management challenging media watchdog’s order for imposing Rs one million penalty on the news channel.

During the hearing, Justice Athar Minallah remarked that commission’s performance and management were discussed during the programme, adding that the right to hold opinions without interference cannot be deemed as violation of sub-judice matter.

The court accepted the plea and set aside the PEMRA’s order.
