PM Nawaz directs no power cuts during Ramazan

Islamabad (Staff Report): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed the concerned authority on Tuesday that no power shutdown should take place during the month of Ramazan following ongoing development projects.

PM Nawaz gave directions while chairing the ninth consecutive session of the Standing Committee on Energy (SCE). He also approved for a new, 1200MW LNG plant.

The PM also directed the authorities for timely maintenance of the power plants.

He said while expressing his anger over the officials of the Ministry of Water and Power that electricity should be provided to consumers through every possible effort.

The federal secretary for the Ministry of Water and Power gave a briefing over the production of electricity and ongoing projects in the meeting.

The premier was not satisfied with the maintenance work of the plants in Bhaki, Haveli Shah Bahudur and others.

Minister for Finance Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Minister and other senior officials attended the meeting.
