Nine soldiers martyred, five injured in Bannu suicide attack: ISPR

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Nine soldiers martyred and five injured on Thursday in a suicide attack on Pakistani military convoy in Bannu District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to a statment issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a motorcycle-borne suicide bomber exploded himself while targeting a military convoy in general area Jani Khel of Bannu District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The nine soldiers, including Naib Subedar Sanobar Ali, embraced martyrdom while five soldiers were injured in the attack.

The security forces cordoned off the area and an operation was carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area.

“Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the enace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR said.

Reacting to the news, Caretaker PM took on twitter to express his grief and condemn the cowardly act by terrorists, the PM said: “Heartbroken by the loss of 9 valiant soldiers in Bannu Division, KP, to a cowardly terrorist act that injured many.”

“Such acts are utterly reprehensible. My thoughts are with the families of the martyred and injured. Pakistan stands resolute against such terror,” the Caretaker PM added. 

It is pertinent to note that terrorist activities are on high in KP and Balochistan since few months. 

On August 22 in South Waziristan, fourt terrorists were killed and six soldier embraced martyrdom in exchage of fire.

Moreover, In July, at least 12 soldiers got martyred in military operations in the Zhob and Sui areas of Balochistan.
